User friendly macOS application that keeps a close eye on your HDDs’ S.M.A.R.T. attributes and displays warnings for possible hard disk failures
The S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) system is integrated within most hard drives, and is designed to monitor the status of the hardware device and generate data concerning the disk reliability level.
SMARTReporter is a full-featured OS X disk monitoring app designed to extract your Mac disks' S.M.A.R.T. status data, and display warnings if necessary.
Easy to install and setup utility for monitoring your hard drive’s status
For your convenience, the first time you launch SMARTReporter, the app opens an Assistant that enables you to make sure the utility is launched at login, and enables you to add the SMARTReporter icon to the status bar.
Both these options and many other customization options are available within the app’s Preferences window: among other things, you can change the icon set design, enable the daily status email function, and varuous types of notifications.
Unobtrusive solution for monitoring your disk’s status that does not require constant user interaction
Within the SMARTReporter Preferences window, you can easily decide the types of disk checks you want to have enabled (S.M.A.R.T. status, I/O error, R.A.I.D. sets, or free disk space amount), adjust their frequency, and set up the notification method in each case.
After the original adjustments, SMARTReporter does not require your attention anymore: the app performs the data analysis on its own, and then displays various alerts if necessary. However, SMARTReporter also includes a Status panel that allows you to see the results for all tests at a glance.
Take advantage of the “early warning system” that comes with each disk and backup your data before its too late
In a nutshell, SMARTReporter is able to display alerts, notifications, or send emails whenever one of your hard disks' S.M.A.R.T. attributes have a faulty value.
At the same time, the app can identify I/O errors, the degradation of R.A.I.D. sets, and check if the free space percent is at an acceptable value.
