An easy to use macOS application that offers you the appropriate tools to quickly checks the internal diagnostics of hard drives
The SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) system is designed to provide various details about your hard drive or solid-state drive in order to help you detect possible failures as soon as possible.
SMART Utility is a macOS application that is able to scan your internal drives, extracts relevant information about each attribute, and then allows you to analyze it in a clean and uncomplicated user interface.
Quick to install macOS utility for visualizing details about your hard drive status
Like with many other Mac applications, the SMART Utility installation procedure is reduced to unpacking the archive and copying the utility to the Applications directory.
On launch, SMART Utility will automatically detect all internet drives, together with their partitions. In some cases, SMART Utility is also able to test the performance of external drives.
Unsophisticated solution for visualizing detailed information regarding the hard drive status
Right off the bat, SMART Utility will display the overall SMART Status, but also detailed information about the drive model, its serial number, the capacity, the power in hours, the current temperature, the pending / removed / reallocated bad sectors, the CRC Error Count, the total errors, and the test count.
In addition, via the “More Info” panel, you get to see the drive firmware version, the ATA version, the offline data capabilities, and more. Similarly, in the “Show all” window associated with the Attributes panel you get to see details about the spin up time, the power cycle count, and so on.
All this information is displayed in a clean and organized manner, so it is easily readable. Furthermore, SMART Utility also enables you to run both short and long test on your drives in order to detect possible errors.
Straightforward solution for testing your hard drive and visualizing the measurements of various SMART attributes
SMART Utility offers a simple yet efficient solution for checking the SMART Status for your internal drives or partitions in order to identify possible errors: the application allows you to see the measurements for various attributes, and is able to perform both short and long drive tests.
