Open source and free macOS utility designed to help you share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems
If you are using multiple computers at the same time on a daily basis, having the same peripherals connected to all your devices can prove to be extremely time efficient.
Synergy is an easy to setup app that is available for multiple operating systems, which means that you will be able to use move your cursor between your Mac, Windows, or Linux machines with minimal effort.
Simple software solution that enables you to use the same mouse and keyboard for all your computers
To be able to use the Synergy system, you must start by creating a server, and then connecting at least one client device. Note that the Synergy application needs to be added to the list of apps that can control your computer in the Accessibility panel.
Each time you launch the Synergy app on a new computer, within the Synergy Setup assistant you must specify if you want to create a new server, or run the app as a client (you need to connect it to a Synergy server running on your network).
Quickly move your cursor between computers to easily control their activity, transfer files, or share the clipboard
Besides being able to control your machines, Synergy can also be used to quickly transfer files or information between computers: you can move files with drag and drop, and you get to synchronize the pasteboard between devices.
Note that you might need to register for a premium account to have access to certain functions.
Moreover, Synergy also offers you the possibility to encrypt your traffic: if you are using Synergy on a public or corporate network, you will be able to protect your work and reduce the risk of information leaks.
Powerful software solution for controlling multiple computers using the same peripheral devices
In a nutshell, Synergy is the right app to have on your Mac if you are working with multiple computers that are running on different operating system: once you started a server, you can connect as many clients as you need and move the cursor between devices with minimal effort.
